In Swedish there are two books by Anne Carson translated into Swedish by Mara Lee: Husband beauty and Red autobiography. Two books that I have read and admired, not least in its capacity to try to achieve something truly unique, writing a literature that has not yet been written. There are books that makes me amazed, struck in a way that I did not really get rid of all these neatly-written well-meaning books that still just does the same thing as someone else has done before. This includes that she has done superb translations into English bh shopping of Sappho bh shopping and Antigone.
All credit to Lee as a translator - she has done a fantastic job with both books - but that's only when I start to read Carson in English bh shopping that I know what she is doing, what her project is about. For it is fascinating and deeply unforgettable experience her books. Red Doc> named her latest volume, which can most easily be summarized as a collection of poems.
It is also a kind of continuation of Red autobiography, where Geryon now only called bh shopping G: "The Red One". To his companion hear Sad (But Great): "Looks cheek / beware". Although the artist Ida: "limitless". Carson is multifaceted and multilayered - perhaps bh shopping even many proposals. It's odd for real, and not someone play with conventions for the sake of playing.
Beware - beware, indeed! bh shopping Because this is dangerous if anything, with the potential to add something, yet clear what. That it is the poetry - you can not doubt about, it's poetry with Emily Dickinson's definition: "You could / take the entirety of the / common sense of humans / and put it in the palm of / your hand and still have / room for your dick. "
Carson sews literature with life, without bh shopping the stitch showing. Proust and Daniil Kharms is read, and the poetry can probably be perceived as cerebral - but the feelings are never at a disadvantage. Take only person Sad, who could identify with Keats words from one of his letters:
"I have never yet been able to perceive how anything can be known for truth by Consecutive reasoning - and yet it must be. Can it be thateven the greatest philosopher ever arrived at his goal without putting aside Numerous Objections? However bh shopping it May be, O for a life of sensation rather than thoughts bh shopping "(22/11 1817)
It is for the most part even margins, short short lines (a bit like the Lina Hagel Bäcks Violencia, the year's most promising debut poetry). Disciplined lines, hard ensnared - while the content is so overrun, so challenging, so much on the road, against freedom, against the movement, so quickly that it barely has time captured. It's seedy, refractory, purl, in poems that are becoming more outspoken, more and more enterprising.
And happily, right in the accident, when Carson goes on upptäckarstråt in language. She writes briskly and crisply and witty and clever, and manages myth and history carelessly: "Facts harbor many incongruities," she says a little slyly, having launched its Prometheus Rebound, which is perhaps the most fun for those who know their Aeschylus and Shelley.
The thread that was so clear in its predecessor Red autobiography is also available here, ranging from the red bat on the cover (painted by Ida, of course). The interest retained, bh shopping without effects. The cold sewn together with the warm, the hard with the soft - all the time, the movement is the dominant impression that it is an event, a process that is documented. There are differences be bridged; stitching together the world seems to be part of Carson's project, emphasizing relationships and togetherness and contexts.
Sewing together the world: the world is a wound. What are emotions? bh shopping How much is learned, conditioned reflexes? In these poems is pain and pleasure same, have the same value and the same origin. And from the same hard-earned experience - here yet Cheap wisdom and simple commands, imperative to embroider or pressing buttons.
Red Doc> is a biography that refuses to take the form of a story. The fragments are there to pick up the pieces of truth - impressions, pictures. Things like pranks, teasing, but you can for your defenses choose to be borttrollad of the red magic of Carson's poems.
Hard to explain what's going on when I read this book: it is a physical event, something that exceeds genre definitions, and becomes something completely uninhibited. I do not wish in any way to detract from the value of Tomas Tranströmer two years ago won the Nobel Prize, but if the Swedish Academy did not want to embarrass themselves for posterity, they hasten to give Anne Carson that price immediately - because this is really bh shopping a bold way writing that is not content to write behaget but meets the old modernist credo-"make it new".
So very sad! I think it would have been a fun discussion afterward, and I definitely think Carson is a writer who could reach out to many
